Getting started: finish one working loop today

Do one setup path, connect one channel, complete one task, then stop and review.

Do these three things first

  1. pick one setup path
  2. connect one real channel
  3. finish one small task

Step one: pick one setup path

Use one of these:

Step two: define one specific task

Do not start with “help me do everything.” Start with one bounded task, such as:

  • explain a concept
  • summarize a text
  • organize a learning outline

The smaller the task, the easier it is to judge whether OpenClaw is helping.

Step three: connect one real channel

Use one of these:

Step four: record the flow

During the first run, keep track of:

  • the input you used
  • the steps you took
  • the output you got

That record matters because the second run should be easier than the first.

Step five: optimize one thing only

After the first pass, do not change ten variables. Change one obvious problem:

  • the output is too broad
  • the structure is weak
  • the steps are unclear

That makes it much easier to learn cause and effect.

Done means this

You have finished the tutorial when:

  • one full flow works end to end
  • you can explain the steps back to yourself
  • you know what single variable to improve next

That is already more valuable than reading more material without execution.
